When I wrote the post Google goes democratic around 20 days back, it wasn’t yet launched in India and I was not able to see the feature myself. Today morning, when I woke up and I was doing some usual stuff, I noticed it is now enabled in India. Cool!
Google is saying that it will affect your own search results only, but there are some opinions that google will tweak its search results on the basis of search wiki feature. Lot of work ahead for SEO folks!

Google goes democratic

I am in India and have not seen this option till now in my search results in Google[dot]co[dot]in. May be it is enabled for some selected geographical regions or users. But, now you can now update the search results from Google, if you are logged in. You can vote them up or down and leave comments. And these will be seen by others.
Now, small businesses and startups are going to try to game the results for SEO. Till now, quality link building was the way to take you up int he search results. Now you have voting as well.
The question is how is Google going to filter out the gamed votes.

SEO fundamentals

I was studying some fundamentals of SEO.
Varun, CTO LifeMojo, had suggested reading Brad callen’s writings on that. I gave my email Id on Brad’s site http://www.seoelite.com and they have like 10 lessons, which they email you one everyday. Its worth going through these lessons to get a good understanding of the SEO fundamentals. They also have a paid tool called SEO Elite, which they have referred many times in the material they send. Seems like this tool can save lot of your manual work.
Varun had also written couple of posts about SEO notes, which are kinda quick action items without going into details of why.

How NOT to get banned by Google!

Here is an interesting article I came across while I was planning the marketing strategy for my venture LifeMojo.
Given that Google now provides over 70% of all Internet search traffic, the last possible thing any small business site owner would want is to be banned from the Google index!
With countless search engine marketing techniques being employed these days, and contrasting advice available all over the web, it is well worth ensuring that you do not ‘over optimize’ your site or use any techniques which will result in Google penalizing your site (see this story on poor old BMW!).
Read the techniques in the full article here at How NOT to get banned by Google!
